Cold Call - "I'm not interested."

I cold called a VP of Sales... "I'm not interested." he said. "As VP of sales, you're not interested in something directly related to improving your sales?" I responded (in a friendly but assertive tone). "Errrm....well....err... what is it then?" ...and just like that - smokescreen gone. Simple logic is often better than jargon, waffle or fluff. Don't be afraid of being direct - it can go either way...but it often cuts through sales resistance, particularly when delivered in the right way. And let's face it, you have nothing to lose in this scenario.
