Eddie Redmayne failed his audition for Kylo Ren in Star Wars...

He did his best to sound villainous but his voice ended up sounding ridiculous.

The only angle he could think of to approach the role was to breathe like Darth Vader...

However, he did go on to win an Oscar for his role as Stephen Hawking in the Theory of Everything.

Not a bad turnaround.

I often talk about the connection between acting & sales - and the message here is pretty obvious...

If an Oscar winning actor can be rejected for an acting role, we should all accept it and quickly move on.

- Things don't always work in our favour.

- Maybe we're not quite firing on all cylinders.

- Or we're just not everyone's cup of tea.

All you can control is the process - not the outcome.

It's how you bounce back and improve your craft that counts.

The other thing this demonstrates is the importance of delivery & tone.

Adam Driver ended up securing the role because he nailed the audition.

Same script.

Completely different result.
