Salespeople - lighten up!

With so many sales strategies, techniques, tips, tricks & approaches on LinkedIn - there's a wealth of knowledge to help people.
It's also easy to get tied up in knots - particularly if you're new to sales.
People can get overly serious, almost up-tight in trying to get everything perfect.
Yet one aspect I think is often missed is the injection of humour – particularly self-deprecating.
It diffuses tension, lowers resistance, and makes you relatable.
It shows that you are human.
Think back to when you first started approaching members of the opposite sex – what was it that brought down their defences?
Was it your smooth opener, confident tone, the right choice of words?
Or was it the slight stutter, fumble & acknowledgement, demonstrating you had the self awareness to actually laugh at yourself?
I'd argue that the real ice-breaker...was the latter.
