Should I post on LinkedIn?"

"What's the point of posting on LinkedIn?"
Someone asked me this week.
"What do you think?" I responded.
"Well isn't it a bit self indulgent? People with pictures of brand new offices, showing themselves remote working from the beach, giving food to the homeless, or crying about laying people off?"
"Well that's one way of looking at it.
But have you considered this...
There is massive power in the act of writing.
It crystallises your own thoughts, biases, prejudices and opinions. It makes you think differently. It stirs up more objectivity.
Besides that, your life experience is unique.
And as a result you could offer acute insight & massive value...talking about what you've learnt from past experiences, failures, successes and how you've grown.
It can lead to:
- new opportunities
- new clients
- collaborations & new business relationships
- being invited onto podcasts
- advice from other people's comments
- new perspectives from other's shared experiences
Like anything, it depends what you want to achieve.
The more honest and sincere you are, the more value you'll get.
And if people don't know who you are then what can you expect.
What do you think now?"
