Cold call...second pattern interrupt...

Following a 5 second intro by the salesperson, the prospect's autopilot response kicks in -
Prospect: "Not interested."
Salesperson: "As I suspected! So thanks for confirming."
P: "Hang on a second - confirming what? What's the call about?"
SP: "Oh - didn't I say?"
P: "No."
SP: "Ah, you're right, I didn't. I just assumed you'd made your mind up...so shall I tell why I called?"
P: "Yes, please do..."
This autopilot response often happens on a cold call - before you've even said why you're calling.
They've subconsciously decided to cut you short.
And so if your first pattern interrupt didn't work, try a second.
Responding in the opposite way of what people expect draws them in & breaks through reflexed responses.
As ever - tone is key - which should be nonchalant, casual, playful, nurturing.
Give it a go next time.
