Sales rep: "This is a sales call..."
Prospect: "I hate salespeople."
Sales rep: "I know what you mean - I experience self-loathing on a daily basis."
Prospect: "Oh...err...well surely it can't be that bad."
Sales rep: "Really? You wanna try making 100 cold calls every day!"
Prospect: "OK look, maybe I was a little hard on you. Tell me how I can help..."
Ever tried swimming against a current?
Salespeople should try going with the flow instead of fighting against it.
It might not work every time, but it will result in more openings than trying to 'overcome' or 'combat' objections.
Plus you'll burn far less calories.
