"I don't know how you work in sales Scott...
If someone told me they didn't want to buy - I'd be like 'fine' and move on!
All the persuading you've got to do, it sounds like so much hard work!"
(said a friend of mine)
"Yes I agree, and that would be tiring. You know...you'd actually make a better seller than you think."
Persuading, pushing and chasing is not sales...unless you're bad at it, or live in a time-warp and it's 1972.
Sales done properly is the opposite.
It's about entering someone's world and helping them see things differently by offering a fresh perspective to a problem.
You should be working collaboratively, and in partnership towards a common goal - not entering a boxing ring with your client.
- You should have no attachment to outcome.
- And should always be prepared to move on...
