"I'm ONLY a sales guy"

"I'm just a sales guy - how can I approach C-level Directors as an equal?"
Some feedback I received during a coaching session last week.
I talked him through his biggest issue -
Himself.
When our internal dialogue has this program running through it what chance have we got?
We start 10 steps back every single time.
It impacts absolutely EVERYTHING including your...
- capabilities
- emotional state
- tone & delivery
- body language
- self-esteem
- confidence
- assertiveness
- control
- impact
- influence
Meaning we will crumble in any situation we feel is out of our depth - AKA that meeting with the CEO.
This mental construct - real only to us - needs deleting ASAP and replaced with a new empowering program, something along the lines of: -
✔️ "I'm an expert in my niche."
✔️ "I'm better informed than the people I call on about the problems I can potentially solve."
✔️ "I'm a business consultant and my job is to help advise potential clients to the best of my ability."
✔️ "I'm a professional salesperson and if I don't approach every single interaction as an equal, I'm doing both myself and my prospect a massive disservice."
Like anything in life holding us back, the first step to changing is self-awareness.
Then the undertaking of a process to bring about lasting change.
New Beliefs ➡️ Positive Behaviours ➡️ Better Habits ➡️ Greater Outcomes
Everything you are and everything you will become is dictated by what is inside of your head.
So, ask yourself - are you 'just' a salesperson?
