There are a lot of films that have given sales a bad name
-Glengarry Glen Ross
-Boiler room
-The Wolf of Wall Street
To name a few.
But what about those films or TV shows demonstrating the opposite?
Take Mad Men for example -
Don Draper (played by Jon Hamm) is Creative Director at an advertising agency in New York during the 1960s.
He's also a masterful salesman.
Watch him during client meetings and you'll notice the following:
- He used words sparingly & with intent
- He moves with purpose
- He has that quiet intensity
- He problem-solves
- He gets into the heads of his clients
- He moves people into emotion
- He always acts like a partner
- He doesn't ever behave subserviently
- He leads with insight
- He challenges his clients and changes their perspective
- He shows his clients what they need even if they didn't realise it before
- He's creative
- He builds rapport
- He has high emotional intelligence
- He's great at story-telling
- He knows how to make people feel good about themselves
- He has gravitas & presence
- He leads
- He pauses and speaks when he has something impactful to say
- He doesn't make too much smalltalk
- He expects prospective clients to work with him
Any films / shows you can think of showing sales in a positive light?
