...asked the VP of Sales conducting the final interview with a candidate.
"Well that depends." replied the candidate
"On?"
"On exactly what you are you looking for in the person you hire...perhaps you could you lay out your 'must have's - and then we can have a conversation around those to work out whether or not this is a good fit on both sides.”
The VP of sales contemplates the response...
"You know...that's the best response I've ever had to that question. And it demonstrates how you'd behave in a high-pressured sales meeting with a prospect.
That...is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. You're hired."
Behave the way you sell during interviews, and you'll sell yourself without even trying to.
An interview is a two-way process.
And in the same way as sales, one side only has more power if you give it to them.
