Surround yourself with people who believe in you...

If you work in sales and have a critical manager or toxic culture, it's a miserable existence.
Life is too short.
Confront the situation or get out.
Whilst you need to take full responsibility for your role, your number & your development, surrounding yourself with the right people makes it so much easier.
So work for a company where your manager has your back and creates a nurturing environment.
One where you can develop & grow.
But this should never be unconditional - you need to show willingness & put in the work.
*A great leader will tell you the truth & what they expect of you.
They put their faith in you.
They support you.
They leave their ego at home.
They will give you the space you need to find your feet.
They will advocate failing fast & learning from those mistakes.
They often won't tell you the answer to your questions, but help guide you to work it out for yourself.
*An incompetent leader will criticise at every given turn.
They will often micromanage, crack the whip & undermine you.
They're not interested in you as an individual.
They will make you feel like sh*t if you mess up.
Their ego gets in the way of their judgement.
They won't allow mistakes - without apparently realising the value of failing & learning.
They will often jump onto a deal to 'close' it whilst simultaneously ruining all your hard work & undermining you.
It kind of goes without saying - you'll become a far better salesperson by having a strong, competent leader.
