Try this on a cold call

You work in sales & make prospecting calls...
You want to avoid any unnecessary tension or pressure when talking to prospects
You want people to open up and feel comfortable with you
Try using these types of softening statements before highlighting the problems you solve / reason for reaching out...
- "I'm not even sure this is relevant, but..."
- "I may be off the mark here..."
- "Correct me if I'm wrong..."
- "I might be way off target here..."
- "This is probably a longshot, but..."
These types of phrases communicate that you aren't trying to just sell to anyone, but that you actually want to qualify properly.
A salesperson qualifying - who'd have thought!
They all say pretty much the same thing -
"Feel free to tell me if this is irrelevant..."
In other words, a way out.
The opposite of the stereotypical salesperson.
Oh, and people love to correct you...
"No no - I recognise what you're talking about."
Give it a whirl
